This was a very fun wedding to be a part of. Upon entering the venue—which was a VFW Hall—I was greeted by the bride, Genna, and her mother. They were putting on makeup and fixing each other’s hair, prepping for the ceremony that was about to happen in a few hours. Genna was soon to be married to Johnny. As Genna and her mother left to go to the ceremony, relatives slowly trickled in with crock pots and food for the reception, and began to decorate the area. It was amazing to see the space transform in the time span of one hour, going from a plain room with tables and chairs to a festive, Thanksgiving-themed party area, complete with pumpkin centerpieces and up-lighting to surround the walls.

For the ceremony, Johnny and Genna got married at a gazebo in the center of town where friends and family gathered to witness the special occasion. They then got in a fire truck provided by the city to escort them back to the VFW Hall, where the reception room was filled with loved ones, eagerly awaiting Mr. and Mrs. Kozelj to be announced.

Some brides and grooms rent limos, others use nice cars, and I have even seen horses. This, however, was the first time I have ever seen a newly married couple use a fire truck as their entrance into a reception. This was a very fun and festive approach to a wedding and I’m happy I was able to be a part of it.
